The final glorious days of our stay in Australia. After flying from Sydney to Bribane we rented a station wagon and drove up the northeastern coast. Australia, so you know for when you go, is much much much bigger then the map would suggest. Big big big. What I am saying is it was quite a drive. And the speed limit was 100kph! Jessica’s dad tried eaking it out to 110 but then we saw a bright flash on the side of the road—surprise—we were photographed—and next think you know it’s Australia’s Most Wanted. Ticket mailed overseas back to Kansas! And Pon was behind us, man was he pissed with his ticket. Anyway, we took a 3 day diving cruise onto the reef and scuba’d like you’ve never seen brown people scuba before. This water was blue, take a look. I have never seen that much blue before. We also stopped on Frasier Island, the largest sand island in the world and got taxi’d to the other side by Nigel the crazed Australian Nazi. “Hurry up and get off the ferry. Come on now, no mucking around.” Thanks Nigel, I thought we would leave Australia without every getting to meet Crocodile Dundee.
