We had this Match Day tradition at our med school: we get called up to the front of the auditorium one at a time and get handed an envelope that contains the next few years of our lives. We open it in front all our friends, families, acquaintances, and-people-who-kind-of-look-familiar-after-four-years-and-we-should-really-know-their-names. Then we read it and go “oh sh*t, I’m going to Iraq to study gastroenterology for four years.” This is followed by crying and running out of the auditorium. Anyway, most people are happy I guess. Pon matched in surgery at William Beaumont in Detroit, Jessica to medicine at Brown in Rhode Island, Laura to OB/Gyn at St. Louis University, Erin to Pediatrics at UNC, Nancy to medicine at University of Texas, and Scott-n-Caron to Emergency and OB/Gyn at Orlando Regional Healtcare. My friends were quite diverse. I matched to Emergency Medicine at Hennepin County in Minneapolis.
