In 2003, Jessica and I took a tour of New York City. It was Jessica’s first trip to the Big Apple, so we took the scenic route. We stayed with my Uncle Ken and took the train everyday from New Jersey into the city. Locations below include Liberty Island, the Rockefeller Center, the Natural History Museum, South Street Seaport, Wall Street, Time Square, and of course the Statue of Liberty. Jessica insisted that we stand outside NBC Studios for a taping of the “Today Show” so we could get interviewed by Al Roker. You know, we could tell the country “Hey, we’re inbred cowboys from the breadbasket state” and everyone would laugh. But, surprise, they tape the show early in the morning and someone couldn’t drag their ass out of bed (Hint—not me). Then we took a tour of the Statue of Liberty. They weren’t letting anyone inside because of all the terrorism stuff (but I think they are now), so Jessica thought she would pose proudly in front of the Statue with a slushie in her hand (it’s never been done before you know).
