Super Friends debuted on ABC Saturday mornings on September 8, 1973. The
cartoon was an adaptation of DC Comics' Justice League
comic which
featured Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and other popular DC heroes
together as a crime fighting team. The cartoon featured character designs by
artist Alex Toth who also designed many of Hanna-Barbera's original superhero
characters such as Birdman and Space Ghost. In the first version
of the show the heroes were overshadowed by their sidekicks: Wendy, Marvin, and
Wonder Dog (who were watered down versions of Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby-Doo) and
mainly fought ecological threats and learned about the dangers of pollution.
When the show was re-tooled in 1977 as The All-New Super Friends Hour,
the team was given new sidekicks, the Wonder
Twins, and their adventures turned
to more straight forward action. As a result the show became even more popular
and ran in various forms for the next decade. One of the most popular versions
was The Challenge Of The Superfriends that added additional Justice
League members such as The Flash, Green Lantern, and
Hawkman, and pitted the
team against The Legion Of Doom, a conglomeration of 13 of their most sinister
foes.

The AMAZON PRINCESS: WONDER WOMAN!
- Powers: She is amazing in power.... She has bracers that
can deflect bullets. In addition she has a telepathically
controled invisible jet and lasso. The lasso also forces anyone
caught in it to tell the truth. In addition to all this she is
both really smart and really strong.
- Origin: She was created on Paradice island, making her
an amazon... where she was a statue of a little girl. Her
mother/artist begged one of those Greek gods, Aphrodite or
Athena, (The cartoon calls her both) to bring her to life... and
just like pinochio she was alive. She was faster than Mercury
and stronger than Hercules. She was always great but they hold a
tournament for the best on paradice island to find someone to
join the superfriends.... And Diana(Wonder Woman) sneaks into
the contest in disguise and wins.

The alien used his ring to find a worthy replacement and Green
